Assisting Minister WorkshopSunday, August 25, 2024 This will be an opportunity for those already serving in this role - helping to lead the service with the pastor - to review our Sunday worship "choreography" and to identify where we can improve.
This will also be a chance for those who may be interested to come, see and learn what it's all about.
Leading worship is not restricted to ordained pastors and priests. Martin Luther asserted that anyone can approach the altar, just as anyone can approach God. The presence of a member of the congregation serving as an assisting minister is a reminder that we are all welcome to come to God, and that we don’t have to be an ordained minister to lead in worship.
PIZZA Lunch Provided!

Choral AnniversaryVancouver Iranian Choir Celebrates 8 Years at Gloria Dei - Friday, August 16, 2024 It was Wednesday evening at the church and I had been enjoying overhearing the soulful sounds of Vancouver Iranian Choir rehearsing. At 7:30 they were dispersing for their usual coffee break, but on this Wednesday evening something different was astir. Rather than gather outside the office for refreshments, someone opened wide the sliding doors and helpers set up a table in the courtyard. Soon the table took on a festive look with a tablecloth, and a large three-tier cake. The choir members assembled and someone addressed the crowd and applause broke out. And then . . . a beautiful soaring soprano voice offered a gift of song - in honor of the women of Iran fighting for freedom. I had thought that perhaps it was someone's birthday. And indeed it was. I learned that the choir members were celebrating their 8th Anniversary as a choir. Sepehr, the choir director, told me how they began with their first rehearsal at Gloria Dei eight years ago . . . and how Gloria Dei has become the choir's home. Happy Anniversary! We are glad you have found a home with us and we wish you much success in your continuing growth and development. For more infomation visit:
