We have a family!!!
Finally, we have a family of five from Syria arriving to the North Shore. We don’t have an arrival date yet, but the REST committee has everything ready for their arrival. They are from a town called Daraa which is on the border with Jordan. The town has been completely destroyed. The family is the mother Honada, who is 45, the father is Mohamed, also 45, the daughter Nour who is 18 and two boys ages 11 and 12 Ahmad and Ibrahim. Two of the children have some disabilities. They are a family in real need of our support.
The REST committee will be sending out more information and a list of things that you can do to participate with helping the family adjust to life in Canada.
If you would like to make a regular monthly contribution to help out with expenses you can use the Pre-Authorized Remittance form (PAR) that is available at the church office. There will be a series of fundraising activities by all the churches that are part of REST, including our own fundraiser on
January 22nd. Please be generous in your support of this very traumatized family. For more information and to keep up to date as developments happen check out the
REST blog .
