The COLD Season has arrived and The North Shore Lookout Shelter wants to make sure that our homeless are looked after. They are putting together "Emergency Weather Response Kits" for those who are sometimes turned away due to over capacity. An Emergency Weather Response Kit will get them through the night until shelter can be arranged.
Gloria Dei friend, Barbara M. volunteers with the shelter and has reached out to us for donations.
You can make a donation to the church marking your cheque or online note - "Sock/Toque Drive" or purchase a new toque or a 2 pair pack of warm socks, or a pair of warm gloves and drop them off at the church between now and Dec. 12. Our goal is to supply 100 pairs of socks, 100 toques, and 100 mittens.
We also will be preparing a small Christmas hamper for a senior in our community who has registered with the Christmas Bureau. The cost of the Christmas hamper is $125. We would also like purchase additional grocery cards to donate to the Christmas Bureau. If you would like to donate, please mark your donation, "Christmas Hamper."
We collected $1000.00 last Christmas for those less fortunate in our community - Let's surpass that goal this year and help spread the warmth this winter.
